It's a Google World after all

Are you looking for the most bang for your internet advertising buck?  Okay, it's a silly question - of course you are. Perhaps a better question is: If I'm going to spend money to advertise on the intenet, then what sites should I consider advertising on? Or, more concisely: Where are the most people going to find information on the internet?

And how can we quickly and easily research this question?  Okay, say it with me... GOOGLE IT (which kinda answers the first question, too, don't you think?)

But let's look at the numbers. According to Alexa.com (and if you or your webmaster don't know about Alexa, I highly recommend checking them out. They keep all sorts of information about websites - most noteably statistics on how popular a site is based on how many people visit it.) Any way, according to Alexa:

Google is the most popular website in existance
Has over 678,000 websites linking to it
About 34% of all web users visit Google

Facebook is next in line at #2
Has over 389,000 websites linking to it (a little over half of links to Google)
About 23%-24% of all web users visit Facebook daily
'But Facebook isn't a search engine' you say? 'Yeah. So what?' I reply, 'You can still advertise on it and potentially reach all those people.'

Yahoo is next in line at #3
Has over 119,000 websites linked to it
About 25% of all web users visit it daily

YouTube is #4
Has over 568,000 websites linked to it
About 19% of all web users visit it daily

Windows Live (Bing) is #5
Has over 24,000 websites linked to it
About 15% of all web users visit it daily

SO, there are the top 5 websites on the Internet and they all accept paid advertising. Even better... if you follow their guidelines you can get free advertising (search results) in all of them, too.  If you want people to find your website, then you should seriously consider utilizing any and all of these as marketing tools.
